Kylie Carlson - Wedding Planner, Stylist & Designer now Professor & Course Designer
Kylie loves anything that sparkles. Her life is full of pink items including her much loved ‘Pink Nissan Micra’ which she has appropriately called Bling & a ‘Pink Sony Vaio Laptop’ that goes with her everywhere. She is extremely creative and can make anything sound exciting when she lets her creative juices flow. She is an idea’s person with a real zest for life, slightly quirky and definitely flamboyant though not over the top. If she had to be likened to a famous personality it would probably be Anne Miller (movie star/dancer from films such as ‘On the Town’ & Kiss Me Kate’ to name but a few) or for a more modern girl try Carrie from S.A.T.C played by Sarah Jessica Parker. She loves shopping and has way too many pairs of shoes and loves to team them up with matching handbags.
As a mother of a gorgeous 11 year old who is a budding figure skater she spends much of her time working on her laptop from Melbourne’s one and only ice rink, and has stretched her creativity to include coaching and choreography of the Theatre On Ice Team who are currently doing a production of We Will Rock You On Ice – her latest baby. She loves to travel and embraces the different cultures she has witnessed through her working life which includes many 5 star venues such as the Ritz, the Savoy & the Dorchester to Hayman Island. She has worked in Sydney, London, New York and Paris and currently has an office in London, New York & Melbourne. Her ambition is to publish at least one book for aspiring wedding planners with her partner in crime, Christine and to have an office of the Academy in every major city.
Christine Kerr - Wedding Planner, Event Planner, Copywriter & Course Consultant
Christine often describes herself as a mass of contradictions; take Angelina Jolie, add just a dash of Jennifer Aniston, a good dollop of Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn and Carrie Bradshaw (SATC) and you get the picture. She ascribes to the quality over quantity theory, but also loves vintage finds and the slightly obscure for adding a twist to the classic look. Case in point – next year she will renovate an old farm cottage on 7.5 acres, but plans to also buy a Vesper for getting around!
Christine’s background is finance, but the creative arts have always called her. Whilst studying for her Bachelor of Journalism she relished the opportunity to major in creative writing and public relations and since 2000 has found creative and exciting ways to combine her love of the written word with her business sense and skills in PR (from event planning to promotions). Hugely inspired by unique and interesting things and people, textiles, colour and anything handmade she finds that Weddings and Events are the perfect place for her to explore all of her interests. A strong and focused person, Christine is very proud of the fact that she has been in business for herself for almost ten years and she loves sharing her knowledge with others!
She lives in a little village just outside metro Brisbane where she, her partner Marcel and their 4 devilishly gorgeous children, relish their cosmopolitan yet relaxed, almost country lifestyle. Christine is an ‘ideas’ person like Kyle and she is always scribbling her thoughts and inspirations into the pages of her notebooks. Her ambition is to retire young and travel the world with Marcel, but in the meantime she is hugely excited and motivated by her and Kylie’s work, a potential book deal and the opportunity to be part of this exciting industry.
